Shepherd’s Huts

Is parking available?

Yes – there’s private parking for hut guests at the top of the field. It’s a short stroll down to your hut (trust us, it’s worth it for the view), but we ask that cars stay parked up top.

Of course – you’re on holiday after all! Our sauna and ice facilities are available to book via our website, and hut guests receive a handy little discount code to use during their stay.

Yes, absolutely – four-legged guests are very welcome 🐾
We just ask that paws stay off beds and soft furnishings, and that you tidy up after them while exploring the site.

Yes! Each hut comes with a small tabletop BBQ – perfect for a relaxed evening cook-up. Just don’t forget to bring your own charcoal.

We do indeed. You’ll have firelighters, kindling, and a supply of logs ready and waiting – just add a match and you’re good to go.

We’re tucked away in the lovely village of Ketton in Rutland —small but mighty when it comes to things to do.
You’re close to Rutland Water for walking, cycling, or simply soaking up the scenery, as well as the beautiful town of Stamford and the grand Burghley House.
There are plenty of countryside walks right on your doorstep, and our award-winning village pub is always a good idea for a drink.

Yes — fishing is available on both of our lakes as an add-on to your hut stay. Lake 2 (Standard) is £50 per night and Lake 1 (Specimen Lake) is £75 per night. Both are catch and release only and are available to experienced anglers with a valid Environment Agency Rod Licence. Fishing must be pre-booked in advance as part of your stay.

Swimming is permitted in Lake 2 only, and only when fishing is not taking place. Swimmers must stay at the top end of the lake and away from the buoys. Please be aware there are carp in the lake — confident and able swimmers only. Children under 16 must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Swimming is not permitted in Lake 1 at any time.

Sauna & Ice Facilities

Is there parking on site?

Yes – easy parking is available for all sauna guests.

Here’s your sauna checklist:

  • Swimwear (no nudity, please!)
  • Two towels — one to sit on, one to dry off (towels provided for private session bookings)
  • Flip flops
  • A robe or something cosy to wrap up in (towels, robes and slippers
are provided for private session bookings)

Forgot something? No stress — we’ve got spares for most things… just not swimwear! And if you’re on a private booking, towels, robes and slippers are all taken care of.

Yes, yes, and yes.
There’s an outdoor cold shower attached to the sauna (brace yourself!) which we ask you to use between sauna and ice bath sessions.
You’ll also find two indoor shower rooms and toilets in “The Chill Hut.”
We just ask that you leave everything as you found it—clean and ready for the next guest.

Our electric sauna is supplied by Sauna Lab – it’s a favourite of ours for a reason.
We also have two ice baths from Ice Tubs, each set to a different temperature: one at a refreshing 10°C, and one at a very bold 3°C (for the brave among you!).

Our Portugal Villa

What’s the closest airport & how far away are you?

You’ll be flying into Faro Airport — and from there it’s an easy breezy 60-minute drive to the villa. Smooth roads, sunshine views… holiday mode starts early.

Short answer: totally up to you.
Long answer: if you fancy exploring hidden beaches, popping to supermarkets, or discovering more of Portugal, a car is a great idea.
That said, if your plan is pure relaxation, we’ve got you covered with transfer recommendations—and Uber works brilliantly here (and it’s very affordable 👀). So you can do as much—or as little—as you like.

Yes… and it’s a good one.
We’re just a 5-minute stroll from Porto de Mós Beach — think golden sands, dramatic cliffs, and plenty of wow moments.

Absolutely. Beach days = beachside dining.
There are two restaurants right on the sand, including our favourite, Campimar.
Fancy a little wander? A 20-minute stroll takes you into Lagos town centre, packed with amazing restaurants, bars, and that lovely buzzing holiday atmosphere.

Big supermarkets are just a 5–10 minute drive away—easy for stocking up on all your holiday essentials (and maybe a few extra bottles of wine 🍷).
There’s also a charming local shop nearby for fresh bread, pastries, and fruit—perfect for slow, sunny mornings.
We’ll happily send you all our recommendations… but yes, Google is your friend too!
